Grateful Grace
We’ve all felt it: that uncomfortable pull between being grateful for what we have and yearning for something more. This isn't a flaw; it’s what I call Grateful Grace. It’s the grace that allows us to find peace in our current position while still feeling the urgency to grow.
This balance saves us from two extremes:
Complacency, which settles for "good enough" and stalls our growth.
Ungratefulness, a toxic mindset that focuses only on what's lacking.
Grateful Grace helps us navigate a better path. So how do we find this balance?
1. Acknowledge and Appreciate
First, ground yourself in gratitude. Be honest about your current circumstances and appreciate the provisions you’ve been given. This honors your journey and allows you to approach the future from a place of strength, not desperation.
2. Listen to the Longing
That feeling of discontent is a message—a compass pointing toward your next purpose. Don’t ignore it. Get curious about what it's telling you to do or become.
3. Embrace the Tension
This back-and-forth is a normal part of the process. Embrace the discomfort, knowing that it’s in this "messy middle" where true transformation happens.
Grateful Grace is not about being unhappy with your life; it’s about being deeply committed to your potential. It's the fuel that keeps you moving forward, all while being anchored in gratitude.
